Battle hymn (2021)

Picture
Battle Hymn
By Cassandra Tse and Bruno Shirley
Performed by Red Scare Youth Theatre
Directed by James Cain

8 - 11 December, Gryphon Theatre

Red Scare Youth Theatre present the full season of Battle Hymn. Ten years since the war began, a small group of survivors have banded together in a tiny settlement amidst a ruined city. Rowan, the camp’s de-facto leader, still dreams of finding one last pocket of civilisation, while Rosa has started preparing her young son Jed for a life of self-reliance, uncertainty and violence. When a group of mysterious, silent beings appear in the settlement, the group must decide just how much change they can learn to live with; and how far they will go to survive.
Double cast and featuring the 12 ensemble members of Red Scare Youth, Battle Hymn is an immersive theatrical experience that allows audiences to roam and follow characters wherever they like. Don't miss the one a kind experience by Red Scare Youth Theatre.

Praise for the workshop production:
A “topical and timeless” piece demonstrating “originality and experimentation in form” - Lori Leigh, playwright

"I was engaged from the beginning, and intrigued until the very end...the story doesn't just occur before [us] but instead invites a collusion and active engagement... sophisticated and challenging." - Miranda Manasiadis, playwright
