Cassandra is the Artistic Director and Producer of Red Scare Theatre Company. Founding the company in 2013 with Bruno Shirley, Tse wrote and directed Red Scare's first production, Right Dishonourable. In 2014 she wrote and production managed Bloodlines and wrote and directed the workshop production of Battle Hymn. In 2015, she directed Matthew Loveranes' The Showgirl and wrote the acclaimed Long Ago, Long Ago for which she was nominated for Best New NZ Play and Outstanding New Playwright at the Wellington Theatre Awards. It was also award Playmarket's Playwrights b4 25 award.
In 2017, she introduced Red Scare's three show seasons, producing two New Zealand works and one international production. She directed David Henry Hwang's Yellow Face, co-wrote and directed the musical satire M'Lady and wrote the touring one-man show Under (shortlisted for ATC's The Next Stage). In 2018 she wrote the rock opera The Bone Thief with Bruno Shirley and directed the hilarious Gutenberg! The Musical! In 2019 Cassandra directed the acclaimed production of Annie Baker's The Aliens and Kieran Craft's Four Nights In The Green Barrow Pub at JJ Murphy's. Most recently, she wrote the five part audio drama Apocalypse Songs, which was nominated for multiple Audio Verse Awards, and wrote and performed That's All She Wrote, a musical theatre revue featuring the work of female and non-binary musical theatre composers Artistic Director & Producer - Cassandra Tse cassandra@redscare.co.nz |
