Gift of the Gab

Picture
A co-operative production between Red Scare Collective, Killer Darlings Collective and Sceptre Theatre, this play was produced under the banner With Our Powers Combined. One man takes on the Hollywood machine in a fast-paced devised show that intertwines film, theatre and impressions. An ambitious one man show starring James Cain and devised by Cain, Matt Loveranes and Cassandra Tse that was presented as part of the 2015 Auckland Fringe and New Zealand Fringe Festivals.

“An astonishing theatrical creation… James Cain’s solo sortie through a memory-bank of celluloid clippings is more than mere escapism… a timely critique of big screen values.” - John Smythe, Theatreview

“James Cain is a brilliant performer with great elasticity in his varied impersonations and the stamina to rarely appear out of breath… Gift of the Gab might illuminate some of the darker sides of light comedy.” - Dione Joseph, Theatreview
