Long Ago, Long Ago

"With Long Ago, Long Ago - her fourth and most intricate play - Cassandra Tse has come of age as a playwright."
John Smythe, Theatreview
Picture
Two sisters – a postgraduate student specialising in fairytales and a cynical phone psychic – struggle with loss, obsession and the need for connection. Long Ago, Long Ago flows from moment to memory; a poetic meditation on grief, siblinghood and the stories we tell ourselves in order to survive.

"Directed by Lori Leigh, the story's truths reveal themselves through compellingly convincing evocations of the past and present... all three actors inhabit each age and stage of their roles with intrinsically entertaining clarity and authenticity. And the fact that the truth floats just beyond what we see and hear makes it all the more absorbing and rewarding...
If the true human experience of fantasy and reality made real through subtle artistry makes you happy, you won't be disappointed." - John Smythe, Theatreview

"The way the play skilfully interweaves the siblings back-stories with their current dilemma's [sic] is engaging and thought-provoking... And the juxtaposition of Audrey's fairytales with their real life situations adds yet another layer to this well honed piece of writing that is at times lyrical and poetic, while at other times hard-hitting and emotional." - Ewen Coleman, Stuff
